Our treatment coordinators are exceptional at filing dental insurance claims and helping maximize our patients’ benefits to the best of their abilities. Our dental office is proudly in-network with most major PPO plans, including Ameritas, Delta Dental, and Humana dental insurance. Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
While every dental insurance plan is different, they all operate under a similar structure that prioritizes coverage for preventive dentistry, like your routine checkups and cleanings. There are also a few words that you’ll need to know the definitions for to better understand your plan, including:
- The premium is the monthly or annual amount that you pay for coverage.
- The maximum is a capped-off amount of money that your dental insurance company will pay for treatments throughout the calendar year.
- The deductible is the set amount of money that your dental insurance company requires you to pay out-of-pocket before your benefits will kick-in.
What Does Your Dental Insurance Plan Cover?
Every dental insurance plan’s benefits can vary, which is why it’s a good idea to call your provider directly if you’re wondering whether a certain treatment will be covered. That being said, most dental insurance companies determine coverage based on a 100-80-50 structure. This means that they cover 100 percent of preventive visits, 80 percent of basic treatments, and 50 percent of more invasive procedures.
